    Dr. Terry Giblin earned his doctorate in psychology from William James College. Dr. Giblin's many degrees and certifications, including a master's degree in School Psychology from Rhode Island College as well as extensive psychology graduate work at U.R.I. Other educational experiences include graduate work at N.Y.U., courses at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Harvard University, and a two-year training program at the Northeast Society for Group Psychotherapy. He also completed a one-year intensive training program in dialectical behavior therapy.


    Dr. Giblin has been in private practice for over twenty-five years. He has also worked in college counseling and agency counseling centers. Psychotherapy in his practice is seen as a positive and collaborative experience designed toward assisting each client toward achieving a more fulfilling and satisfying lifestyle.


    Children, adolescents, and adults are welcome in his practice. Dr. Giblin sees clients for individual, couples, and family therapy. He is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. At the core of his training lies several years of intensive supervision by senior therapists in psychodynamic, cognitive, DBT, family systems, mindfulness, and Gestalt therapy. More recently Dr. Giblin has trained in energy psychology, a new form of brief therapy.

    What is the assessment like?


    Each client is given a full assessment which usually takes three to four sessions. When necessary other professionals may be consulted and psychological tests may be utilized. After this assessment goals for therapy are formulated and agreed upon. Throughout treatment, these goals are assessed and progress monitored.     What is Tele-Health?
     
    You can meet with your therapist over video and audio over the internet, on-the-go using your tablet, desktop, tablet, or mobile device. Tele-health is secure and convenient and saves time and hassle. You are able to attend your appointments and schedule them directly from your choice of device.


    There is certain technology you will need to participate in a telehealth session, at least one of the following options.

    ​

     

    1. A desktop computer that has webcam and speakers.

    2. A laptop that includes webcam and speakers

    3. Tablet with webcam and speakers

    4. Smartphone (IOS/Android) - must first download the Zoom app.

    In addition to these devices, your internet speed must be a minimum of 10mbps, this will minimize connection issues during the session. 

    How do I schedule a Tele-Health session?

    In order to schedule a Tele-health session with us, call our office at (401) 943-2585, or you can email us using the contact form on our web-page. Expect an email confirmation as well as a link to the scheduled session. Make sure you have one of the listed devices to successfully participate in the session, and the minimum internet speed to participate.     What is Zoom?

    ​

    Zoom is a meeting software that is known for its safety and security for its user. Our office believes your privacy is of the highest importance which Zoom can supply.

     

    What is the best place to do a video call with you?

    ​

    The best place to participate in a telehealth video call is a quiet and safe space, away from other household members, co-workers, or distractions. Make sure to adjust your lighting and point your monitor to where you can see your therapist and they can see you. Choose a quiet, private location. Close any doors and shut windows if it is noisy outside. This will optimize your telehealth experience with your provider.
